Engage with our collections and local history
Hertford Museum offers guided tours, talks and training for professionals. In addition, we can also offer Reminiscence Sessions by our trained team. The Museum offers great facilities in which to teach, study and get closer to local history through our collections and learning resources.
Hertford Museum offers organised walks around the town centre delivered by our dynamic team of volunteer local historians. The guided tours take place at 11am on a Sunday morning on selected dates and themes. For all the information, please follow the link:
Our curatorial team offers by appointment a choice of engaging talks relating to our collections. The talks can take place at the museum or at your own venue. The team also offers the possibility to develop tailored talks. For more information, please follow the link:
Reminiscence Sessions have been proven to provide therapeutic benefits for older people, particularly those suffering from dementia. These sessions are delivered by trained museum staff and volunteers and include handling of “memory boxes” containing familiar objects from the past. Tactile, visual and audio experiences aid the reminiscence process and encourage fun and laughter and the recall of pleasant and happy memories.
Our Reminiscence Sessions encourage group communication and help reduce social isolation but allow participants to engage in their own way. If you would like to know more about this service, please do contact us.
