High Streets & Hedgerows: The Pelhams

Saturday 1st April – Saturday 17th June 2017

Discover the history of Furneux, Stocking and Brent Pelham and the characters who lived there. The exhibition will include a wide range of objects, photos and recorded memories of those who made it their home.

Museums at Night

Join us for a special evening opening to celebrate the Museums at Night initiative!

Enjoy a drink from a licensed pay bar and listen to the amazing ska sounds of Trojan Horses in our beautiful garden (weather permitting). Drop in, it’s free! Donations welcome.

Feathers and Fluff! 

Tuesday 30th May, Wednesday 31st May and Thursday 1st June, 10.30 am – 3.30 pm (last entry 3pm) £1.50 per child.

Drop in and take part in crafty activities inspired by the woodland animals in our collection. Make a feathery bird badge, a simple fluffy puppet and more!

Hertford Museum are delighted to announce that an anonymous donation has been made to us to provide financial support allowing children of low income families to take up FREE spaces on our school holiday activity programme.

    We have 65 FREE places available for our drop in activities on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
    • We have 8 FREE places on our bookable workshops. (Workshops book up quickly so we advise booking fast)
    • Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.
    • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions cannot be booked in advance.
    • Proof of low income in the form of a benefits letter or tax credits award letter must be shown at the time of booking sessions or upon arrival at drop in sessions.

    Arts & Crafts for Adults: Pattern Printmaking Workshop
    Wednesday 14th June
    10am – 12.30pm £15 per person

    • Be inspired by an introduction from one of our Curators to the amazing world of patterns within our collections.
    • Design and make your own foam cut print.
    • No experience necessary, full instruction from experienced artists.
    • All materials provided, includes tea and coffee.

    Whether you're a seasoned knitter or just a beginner bring your projects along to Hertford Museum. This is a chance to share ideas and patterns in a comfortable setting over a cup of tea of coffee.

    On the first Saturday of each month, The Andrews Room at Hertford Museum will be open for families to enjoy a free play session. Come along and play with traditional wooden toys, make something crafty and read a book. Whilst you are here why not use the discovery station toys to explore the galleries too?

    Due to lack of donations on our previous walks, there is now a small charge to take part; this has to be paid when booking your place, either in person at the museum or by credit/debit card over the telephone. £2.00 per person.
